foam smothers the spilled fuel preventing the fire from spreading so far…
given enough foam, you can easily put out a tank full of petrol…
one of my previous jobs was working on a flightline of fighter jets and we all had annual fire fighting training which included putting out fuel fires with foam…
And the even stupider part about it all, they were likely running the hose from a small tank (in Australia we call em a furphy, after one of the companies who first made em) and could have just dumped a dose of foam mix into it before using.
Mainly because I doubt the tools in the vid could have hooked up a pump to a hydrant.

ProTip: there was very little “grease” burning there. Most of that was gasoline/petrol, plus whatever plastics and whatnot were in the engine compartment.
The douche holding the hose could have put that fire out, had he known what the &$*(% he was doing.

on top of that hes spraying the water on the flames instead of aiming for the source of the fire. even a chemical extinguisher would have been useless in these guys’ hands
Firefighters put out car fires everyday with water, and usually through a fairly small diameter hose. You just need to put the water right on the source, and use enough to absorb the heat. The only thing the genius working on the Corvette did correctly was to not get too close, since he wasn’t dressed for the occasion. If he’d had on firefighting gear and a pry bar, and had been able to direct the hose into the engine compartment, he could have extinguished the fire.
Sure, but this was a gas leak, that’s harder. Still, that video shows as fine a bunch of morons as I have ever seen.

If that was a grease fire it would have exploded from the water. I’m guessing the fuel was still pumping from either the heat or it was an electric pump and the ignition was left on…
